HVAC unit converters
Exact unit conversions for HVAC work, including the difference between converting a temperature and a temperature difference.
BTU to Tons Converter
Convert heating and cooling capacity between BTU/h, tons of refrigeration, kW, watts, MBH, kcal/h and horsepower.
Answers: Convert BTU to tons, tons to BTU, and BTU to kW.
Fahrenheit to Celsius Converter
Convert temperatures and temperature differences between Fahrenheit, Celsius, Kelvin and Rankine — including the HVAC-critical difference between a reading and a delta.
Answers: Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius (and back), including temperature differences.
Exact factors
Conversions use exact definitions where they exist and NIST’s published factors otherwise: 1 ton of refrigeration is 12,000 BTU/h, and 1 BTU/h is 0.29307107 W. The temperature converter treats readings and differences separately, because a temperature difference converts without the 32° offset.
