Refrigerant PT charts

Saturation pressure at every temperature from −40 °F to 150 °F, as a gauge reads it at sea level. For other elevations, or to go from a gauge reading to a temperature, use the Refrigerant PT Calculator.

How these charts are made and checked

The tables are computed with CoolProp 8.0.0, an open-source library (MIT licence) that implements published equations of state, every 1 °F. They were generated on 2026-10-25. We did not copy any manufacturer’s chart. Instead, we compared our tables with independent published tables and only publish a refrigerant when it agrees with at least two of them: within 0.3 °F of a detailed property table, or within 0.6 °F of a whole-degree pocket card, expressed as saturation temperature.

For R-410A, the table that differs most was produced with an older equation of state, and two charts do not state how they were made. Our table agrees with a table generated with NIST REFPROP to 0.023 °F.

Why R-454B is not here yet

The open-source mixture model for R-454B differs from two independent published tables by about 1 °F. That is too much for charging work, so we do not publish an R-454B chart until a model or dataset agrees with independent sources. Use the manufacturer’s chart for R-454B equipment.

Using a PT chart

  • A PT chart gives the saturation pressure: the pressure at which the refrigerant boils or condenses at that temperature.
  • Superheat and subcooling compare a measured line temperature with that saturation temperature. The Superheat and Subcooling Calculator does it from your gauge readings.
  • Charge equipment with the manufacturer’s procedure and target values. Only certified technicians may handle refrigerant.
